Laser Altimeter (ULS)

Due to the scattering effects of certain terrains (sand, etc…) on a radar signal, running a second type of altimeter sensor in parallel can be advantageous.

New-Sense will use a Universal Laser Sensor developed by Laser Technology Inc. The Universal Laser Sensor (ULS) is a fully programmable pulsed-laser sensor with several operational modes to obtain accurate results in any and all survey conditions. In New-Sense’s standard configuration for the ULS, the altimeter has an accuracy of +/- 6 cm.

When in use, the ULS is mounted next to the TRA-3500 radar altimeter allowing both sensors to measure the same altitude.
